I joined lumberjocks mainly to provide some tool reviews on the tools that I own and run on a weekly basis. My woodworking consists of restoring my 1830’s house, building furniture and what-nots on the whims of my wife, and building guitars when I have spare time….its been a few years since I’ve built a guitar.
I’ll also get up some pictures of some of the instruments I’ve built and maybe a cabinet or two I’ve made.
I’m a hobbyist, i build for myself and occasionally friends and family. My brother is a professional cabinet maker, which means that not only am I a “hack”, but I know it too. grin What this means to people reading my reviews is that I don’t ask my tools to run 24/7, and obviously if your needs are for more than a weekend warrior tool, you need to take that into account when you read my reviews.
My view on my tools is this: My tools need to be better than I am, however there is a point of dimishing returns where better and more expensive tools will not make me a better woodworker. I try hard to hit that mark with my purchases.
The main tools in my shop, that I’ll get reviews up for as I get settled in here
Grizzly G0555 Bandsaw
Ridgid TS3660 Tablesaw
Craftsman 10” radial arm saw ( restored 1960’s model #: )
Craftsman professional 6”, 1hp, 48” bed rabbiting jointer
Some other tools that I’ll get to when I can ( model numbers coming )
Bosch Router table
Bosch electric planer
Porter-Cable 5” orbital sander
