Here’s the first chair. I plan on building another one, plus two side tables, a bench and coffee table for the deck off my guest apartment. I purchased the plans on line, but I’ve always had trouble following rules, so the final product somewhat different than what the plans called for.

I used scrap 2×6 treated pine left over from building the apartment and deck, instead of cedar or red wood the plans called for, simply because it was scrap laying around.

Looks nice. Nice wide arm rests. I like that. Great use of scraps. Scrap pine works. All you have in it are some scraps, a few screws and a bit of time. It’s kinda like a protochair. You can tweak the design in pine if you want and not be out much. Are you considering some type of sacrificial base the protect the feet and legs?

I think you got a really fine result. A very nice looking chair. I have also used pine to make a garden bench for my son a few years ago. It is painted and has held up extremely well. You can see a recent picture of it on my projects page if you are interested.
