I am in my 60s and getting ready to retire from my profession as a school board employee consultant. I was born in Montreal and have always lived here except for a couple of years I spent in the Canadian Armed Forces. I have liked woodworking since I was a kid in Montreal West High School in the 1960s and I took a course in traditional French Canadian wood sculpture in the late '70s. That course taught me about the sharpening, use and care of chisel and gouge tools in low relief and figurine sculpting. I have been slowly acquiring tools over the years and am now beefing up my collection in anticipation of getting back into sculpting and woodworking when I retire. I buy my tools from Lee Valley in Ottawa, Home Depot here and Flexcut and Treeline online. I enjoy reading the forums for information, entertainment and social "gabbing"!
I also love Nikon digital photography, our "Lassy" type Collies and recreational aviation, having instructed gliding and owned ultralights over the past three decades. I also love classical music and blues so I play around with my violin when the spirit moves me. Violins are the epitome of woodworking IMHO ;-)
