After being layed up for over 10 weeks I am finally getting back to work! I have worked in Lowe’s tool department for over a year and planning on going back again part time. My wife wants 120 feet of picket fence and two arbors built for the garden. Before I got layed up I was building an entertainment center which needs to be finished. I want to build my shop cabinets and buy the rest of my equipment and finish setting up the shop. These things should keep me busy for the next couple of months. I just wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers while I was on the mend.
God Bless
tom

This is great to hear, Tom. Getting back into the shop sounds like a nice way to get back into the swing of things.

Glad to hear you are back up and running. But don’t go too fast. Need to build stamina also.

Hi Tom, Glad to have you back up and running again. Can’t keep a good man down. Always glad to get your messages on projects and life. You inspire me to try harder. I think I will post my latest project sometime today. Another solar energy project. Take care my friend and ease on into things and not all at once. Bye and God Bless you and yours.

Sorry Tom, I did not notice this before. Very glad your getting better and on the mend….nothing like getting back in the shop to make you feel better. I did not know you worked at lowe’s…bet that tool discount comes in handy when buying new toys for the shop ,lol :)

Don : The main reason I went to work at Lowe’s, was because I missed being around people after retiering. When I decided to put in a new shop, the discount was nice for buying tools and building materials for the shop. The extra cash went towards the new shop equipment as well. At Christmas they give us extra discounts over and above what we normally get. We are planning on buying all new appliances for the new kitchen. It is kind of nice to be working because I want to and not because I have to.

Tom,
Glad to see you are back and gaining strength. Don’t over do it at LOWES or in the shop. You need to pace yourself so we have you around for a long time.

Tom,
That sounds great…”working because you want to and not need to”. And I have several friends who work at my local Lowes…some because a job is a job….but a few, like yourself…work just because they want to. There is one man I know name Pat, he is kind of like a father figure….he is in his 70’s and was bored out of his mind, so he went back to work at Lowe’s. He can work those 20 year old kids in the ground…lol.
Another retired friend of mine who went to work there….went “Only” because of the discount he receives….he got back into woodworking after retirement and has almost totally built his shop and stocked it with his discount and his paycheck workin only part time…and never touched his retirement pay.
