Bertha forced me to apologize to Joe L and chipmunk - 11 replies

First, let me clarify the title; Al has never sent me a PM or me him. What I mean by it is that while thinking about the posts I have made, and reading his, I realize I need to own up to my own short comings. You see, I have never seen Al say a negative thing about anyone here, he posts (a lot), and he gets into the “dirty” posts, but he does ...

Old tool literature recommendations? - 1 reply

I just wrote a post over at my blog about a 1937 Stanley Catalog my wife bought me and how amazed I am at the different lessons to be learned (like the “jackass” plane?) I got a whole lot more out of it than I thought I would and was wondering if any of the LJ out there either knew of some god resources to get old ww mags, catalogs,...

What is your hobby? - 21 replies

Ok, I realized that I went about my wording so poorly in my last post that it has became something completely different. So, as a reboot, what is the favorite part of the hobby to you (or even if your a pro). Some people are all about the tools, rather it be hand tools or power. The spend the time setting the up, asking about them on forums, ...

Are you a woodworker or a tool setter upper? - 42 replies

To start out I own and use power tools, I just regulate them to the DIY side of life now. I used to use them in my hobby woodworking. But I found a problem, I didn’t really enjoy them, you see I didn’t think of it as wood working. I thought of it as machine set up. My hobby then was setting up machines. If you carefully set up y...

A space for knuckle draggers? - 23 replies

Some forums have “Normite” spaces and “Neanderthal” spaces. Noticing that most forums here are based around “Normites”, how about a space for us knuckle draggers to call our own? It seems that Bertha’s handplane of your dreams post has basically turned into that, why not go ahead and give us out own forum?
