How I built My Pocket Hole Machine (NOT KREG STYLE)

During the Winter of 2000, I worked at a cabinet shop while in college. My introduction to pocket hole joinery was using a Porter Cable Pocket Cutter. Since then, I have been spoiled and have hated using Kreg jigs due to the tear out on the hole and the angled pilot hole that makes it hard to keep the surface flush . So I decided to build my own pocket hole cutter based on what I remember of the Porter Cable version I used 15+ years ago.

I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

I have to say that that’s a pretty slick set-up….The holes are so much cleaner than a regular Pocket Hole. It took some deep thinking to come up with that idea, but you said you worked in a cabinet shop where they used one, so that was a good start…..Stellar job on the machine…!!

Looks like a pretty slick setup.
I remember several years back watching Norm on TV using a pocket hole machine along those lines. His machine may have been like what you used in the cabinet shop.

+3 on the slick setup. I like the cleaner holes and cheaper than a Foreman too.
