Usualy this part is included in woodlathe kit.
But it isn’t included in my metal lathe kit.
So I decide to make wood turnnning tool post for my metal lathe.

I feel it is nealy good size.

From this mock-up, I get just size and feedback to my plan.

My first thought was you might be “Scoshie BAKA”, but then could see that this is only a mock-up.
The picture of using a wooden structure as a tool rest saw a disaster! Just make whole item of HEAVY metal.

That idea sure beats my pencil drawing on the back of a dirty paper McDonalds’ napkin!!!

Actually, Billy, wood makes a fine tool rest for a lathe. I will agree that this design would be a disaster waiting to happen. A well supported piece of wood works great a tool rest. I use it all the time.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Sorry, “mock-up mokel” is Japanesque word ? I did’t know.
This tool post pictures is “mock-up” model.(scaling test model)

Mock-up is usuary made by cray, wood, paper, plastic….,and mock-up model is not use as real work.
To know size, proportion, feel to use,I often make mock-up.
This toolpost finaly made by heavy steel. I think it isn’t danger to use.
