I literally StumbledUpon this site last night. I'd searched for woodworking sites but this one never surfaced. Glad I found it however. From what I've read so far, there are some amazing woodworkers here and I'm sure I can learn a good deal about this craft.
About Me? We'll, I'm a semi retired electrical engineer who worked in the high tech business for 18 years then spent a few years riding the real-estate roller coaster as a builder/developer and now am looking for my next business adventure.
I'm happily married with a wonder wife, two stubborn but basically good teenage boys, a golden retriever and a chahuahua, the queen of our dominion. I call Idaho home and am a real native (rare these days, at least in the Treasure Valley). I live most of the time in Meridian, but spend as much time as possible at our place in central Idaho.
As far as woodworking, my grandpa tried to engage me in it when I was a boy and while I used brute force joinery skills (glue, nails and a hammer) for building boxes and simple storage solutions, I never went much beyond simple construction. A few years ago, when we built our current home, I ended up convincing myself to get a few tools and took on building a somewhat unique, Gothic-style mantle for the home. I started it, got the basic structure done and then engaged in a new business venture and have yet to complete it. I've done some smaller box type projects and simple cabinets since, but I'm looking forward to more fine finish work in the future.
Projects in the que:
* Finish the mantle
* Tool storage
* Router table base
* Portable fly tying bench/box

Thanks all for the welcome. hopefully I’ll be able to earn lumberjock apprentice title at some point in the not to distant future and not bring the average level of woodworking on this site down too far :)
