« Part 1: where to start? Part 2 of Table Challenge series Part 3: First stages »

... the “table” has sat on my workbench for over a week now, untouched.

“Why”, you ask? Well, it’s my legs. That’s it. One little thing. Well, four, actually—four little things.. Well, the “little” isn’t accurate either. If it /they were “little” I wouldn’t be stuck. It’s the tallness factor that has put a roadblock in my way. I don’t have any appropriate wood that is over 12” in length. That would be a very short table!!

And so here I sit, brainstorming back-up plans. I hope it doesn’t take much longer. The countdown isn’t waiting for me and my legs.

and as I hit the “post” button an idea is painted in my mind’s eye. It might just work!! Maybe… maybe not, but at least it’s an idea and where there’s one idea there are more!!! Come on brain – get painting more images for me to see.

Splice the wood together to make longer legs? Not stylish but you could make them different wood as a contrast to give a new look to the table. Maybe Oak and Paduk, or Maple and Walnut?

that was my idea Bill… the table has a shelf at the bottom, right? The shelf could some how “join” 2 pieces of leg together!! I think.

Debbie, go buy some wood. They only need to be 18” long and I can help you make them whatever size you want them, but you need Rick to cut them on the table saw.

Great idea… make the lower legs 4” tall and dowel the shelf on top of it, then make the next section 12” and you’ll have the proper length

Debbie: It’s a start. Or a roadblock. But whatever it is.

It’s “Sculptured WoodArt”
