it has indeed been a good day and it isn't over yet.
Let's see… Yesterday I spent the whole day with my daughter (shopping, getting our hair cut, shopping). She bought me a new cast iron deep-dish frypan. Oh yah… Oh yah!!!
This morning I got a call from my brother and my Mom.. Nice!!
Rick and I shopped and bought a dust filter thingy. Finally. Now to get it hooked up.
Tonight we go online and have family night with my son in BC; having supper together and playing games. That will be a lot of laughs.
And then tomorrow-we go tool shopping :)
Can life get any better???

Update

This has been one of my best birthdays ever!! First of all it was as if it was 3 days long!! And I have received some great gifts and lots of well-wishes from family and friends! (Thank you LumberJock-ers for all your kind thoughts).
Then last night we had family night and did a "video chat" with my son and his family. We had chinese food and played monopoly. That is so much fun. It's just like they are sitting right here in our dining room.
Anyway, this morning I discovered the fortune cookies from our meal last night. I chose one (or it chose me) and my bubble was burst.
This fortune cookie has to be the "worst" fortune I have ever received!!!

"Get your feet on the ground, even though your friends might flatter you."

Oh right… 3 days of people saying that I'm special - but don't believe it. Come back to reality!!!

Oh well… such is life….... Back to normal life again…... Guess I have to wait another year to feel special

At least it started my day off with a laugh.

- Special Debbie.

I thought you were going to tell us that everyone in you family gave you a different woodworking tool that you've been wanting and that you spent the last three days in the shop with some of that newly aquired lumber from the sawmill. I was bracing for a barage of new projects being posted for the next two weeks. I'm so disappointed. 8^(

Forget the fortune cookie…your are special…God created you! ;^) Now go to the shop and create something!

and the Universe says

and so we went shopping today, and in the back of my mind was the Universe's reminder to keep my feet on the ground and not get too caught up in my friends' flattery… yah - you are no one special. Get back to reality.

So we went to Store A. Closed on Sundays (we were sure we'd been there before on a Sunday).
No problem: Plan B… Closed on Sundays.
Not a problem: Plan C…. didn't carry it but if you go to Plan D they have them. Nice.
Plan D: didn't have them
Plan E: (yes, I'm stubborn)... didn't have them.

So 3.5 hours later here I am back home. No purchases but a practical experience from the Universe that the world doesn't revolve around-ME!! I can't believe it.
oh wait, let me change that: Yes, Universe, I get the message. I believe it. I understand. Now, let's move on, OK?? :)

And so I am left with Plan F: Woodshow on Friday :D

The Universe ... continued

and so the rest of my day was filled with incidents that clearly reminded me that the Universe was smiling down upon me!

Oh yes, I am special. I am the one that was giving the Universe a laugh for the day.
1. the leftover Chinese food fell out of the fridge and splattered all over the floor (and me).
2. the BBQ sauce squirted out of the bottle and .. yup.. went all over me.
3. the ribs caught on fire - and I mean caught on fire!!!! and well,, the charcoal crumbled as we pulled the "ribs" off the bbq….
4. I just don't want to think about it… I think you get the idea.

Yes, the Universe is still laughing.

I know, I know.. feet back on the ground!!

1/2 a Century

March 10, 2008

Yes, it's true!! Today's my birthday and I'm 50.

Someone asked me what it's like to hit the 50 mark and I thought, hm.. well, if I live to be 100 then half of my life is over so I'd better make the most of the next 50. So I guess this is the start of some pretty exciting times!!! Woo hoo… look out world. And I thought that first 50 was pretty exciting!! :)

To celebrate this milestone, we had bonfire breakfast on Saturday morning when the big snowfall started. That was fun! And then Saturday night we went to my brother's for hot dog night. That was fun. .. well the drive there wasn't the best but it was an adventure: with the snow so thick in the skies and on the roads, you couldn't tell where the road ended and the ditches began. "Just keep it between the trees!"

And yesterday we had a potluck with all the family. (My son & family were even there via video chat!!)
And.. my brother wrote a song for me… yah.. Kleenex time!! As soon as sang "Little Sister".. that was it for me!

Anyway.. it was a busy, busy weekend, with lots or preparation work and moving stuff.. and today I ache all over and feel like I'm 50 or something! HA

Another Year = 51

here we are again.
Life is good!!! I've been told by a few well-wishers that they they know 51 isn't a special year. My reply: I woke up this morning (bonus) and I was happy (SWEEEET). Life is good so today is indeed a very special day!
