Flipping through the channels on TV this morning, the flipping stopped when we started to watch two guys building log furniture.

Logical Creations – uses “already dead” trees, as much muscle power as possible (rather than gas or electrically powered equipment), and woodworking skills to create log furniture. They have won several awards for their innovation and recycling efforts.

Perhaps the most “oooooh cool” moment in the video clip was showing the horse power used to drag the old trees around. Yes, horse power – but not just any horse. The two horses were miniatures, all harnessed up and pulling their weight, as they say.

Fascinating enough to pass it along to my fellow LumberJocks.

Thanks for the heads up. What’s the name of the program to search for? I’d like to find this show and record it. I guess with miniature horses, he harvests miniature logs? Last week a stray mule was lose in my field and proved impossible to catch. The neighbor who has horses said it wasn’t his. When I’m ready to log my woods, I’ll need a tractor, skid steer, or mule. Right now mule power is the cheapest source. There’s a free one on Craig’s List in my area right now, and 3 or 4 more listed below $200… Harnesses are on there from time to time as well. Only one big problem keeps me from horse or mule logging. My first big whipping as a kid was from using some of the words my Granddad used when he worked his mules. I had no idea I shouldn’t repeat them in front of my Mom. I’‘m over 60 years old now and I can still remember riding on one of my Grandfather’s mules while he plowed his fields and mowed the hay.
