Spoontaneous has started a class on designing and creating “spoon art”. I’m not sure how far I’ll get with the spoon making but I’m definitely hooked on the creative part of it.
As homework, participants were asked to get pen and paper and start drawing ideas (read comment #21 of his blog for tips).
This is fun, and I highly recommend the activity!!

I have about 4 little pages of ideas thus far and have selected the spoon to carve. Well, it is “currently” the spoon of choice, but that might change!

Debbie ~ That is totally awesome!! I had actually drawn a similar spoon as the lightning spoon (with a gray cloud bowl).... but the Frogleg spoon is really great, and the others as well. I have literally hundreds of such pages with spoon doodles and ideas that pop up. Really happy to see you are enjoying the process.

yah, – creative thinking, I am good at. Follow-through, not so much :D
That’s what I was thinking re: lightning – the grey cloud for the bowl.

Debbie, It looks like you’re starting to think like the illustrious Spoons. Run away Debbie. Run away, there’s still time!!
Seriously though, I’m thinking about a claddagh design at the top, Celtic knots in the handle and a heart shaped bowl. Nothing too unusual there, I know, but I’m almost house-trained now, so
the wildness is (semi-) under control.
If it works it’s for the Wife and if not it will be offered back up to The Lord in the form of smoke.
Looks really good in my head.

Murch ~ I’m kind of embarrassed but I had to look up ‘claddagh’ on Google. No wonder my wife beats me in scrabble (and English is her 3rd language).
Your spoon sounds like it is really going to be cool. You’re braver than me though with all of those ‘knots’ in the middle. There is this Chinese saying, “Heart ties heart with a thousand knots” that I heard several years ago. I think it would make a great spoon but I am years from trying that one.
Have you decided on your wood?

Yeah Spoons, whatever I trip over or root out of the fire pile. Same as usual.
