LumberJock in need: Duane Moore

For the next two weeks, all donations made to LumberJocks.com will be transferred to Duane Moore’s “fighting cancer” fund.

Sadly, Duane is fighting a battle against cancer and, as you can imagine, the family is (and will be) having a very tough time, emotionally and financially. As Duane stated on his site, ”with this cancer I will remain on chemo until I die”.

You can read more about the family’s situation and the donation fund at:

To make a financial doantion through LumberJocks.com: simply go to our LumberJocks' Donate page and make a one-time donation of $5, $10, $25, $50 or other amount using the PayPal system.

On behalf of Duane and his family, thank you for your financial and emotional support and on behalf of LumberJocks.com, Duane – we wish you and your family well as you fight this battle!

Also, thanks to Grizzman for initiating this support for our fellow LumberJock.

It is bad enough to be fighting cancer, but overwhelming medical bills and concern for your family’s survival are paramount. Cancer patients will only reach out for financial help when they have exhausted all other means possible. We don’t choose cancer, it chooses us and the treatments cost mind boggling amounts and will often debilitate you in such a way that you can do almost nothing.
I have cancer, I start IV Chemo in January, my current meds are not working and I have good and bad days. By good judgement I have a reasonable health insurance that covers most of my treatments – I am lucky to have that especially as I must now exist on SS checks. At whatever stage you may be at with the cancer, you are overwhelmed with concern about how you can pay bills and give some sort of security to you family, like will they become homeless etc.?
It is time for a “show of hands” to help this LJ in his time of great need, and I urge you to make a donation – however small to assist fellow human beings in despair.
After all, you never know if you might be in the same situation one day.

I’m in.

It’s been one heck of a year (and a half) for my wife and me, too, but … this certainly put my issues into perspective, in no time :-(

Sorry I didn’t see this post until now.

Cancer always hits too close to home for me and I try and contribute when I can since it has impacted me and my family so much. My mom battled breast cancer, went into remissio, came back a few years later as ovarian cancer, went back into remission, and came back 10 years later as an undiagnosed brain tumor during my senior year of college that put her in a coma and intensive care for 5 months before she passed. It was the hardest thing i’ve had to deal with and I dont wish it on anyone else. The bills my dad were handed were astronomical and we were lucky his insurance helped with most of it. I know others dealing with it may not have that same option. I have donated to Duane and hoping others will as well to help his family not have to worry about bills so they can instead spend their days with each other instead of worrying about how to pay for his care.
