Untill then I had only turned spindles for my toys.
The other members inspire you to try other things. The wood is supposedly Carpathian Walnut.

The outside threads are not bad, but the inside threads are rough. Need more practice.
It is 1 5/8” in diameter and 1 1/8” high, Hard Maple.

A friend gave me a couple of roughed out blanks to play with. These are the result. Large one is 10”D X 4 3/4”H. Small is 9.5”D X 3 1/4”H. They were sanded to 600 grit and the finish is wipe on poly.
The wood is Manitoba Maple. I’m told the red streaks will eventually turn brown unfortunately.

I don’t know what it is. It was a block 10” long X 1.5” thick and 4” wide, given to me. I suspect that it might be one of the Elm family.
The approximate size is: 15” long X 6” wide X 6.5” tall.

Face frame was made using pocket screws then glued on with biscuits. It is poplar stained with Wood-Kote Jel’d gel (Heritage Oak).
