Hi, all…I am new to this, but here goes. I have been turning about 14 years. Just built a 16’x20’ shop. Equipment is: 16”Jet bandsaw, Jet mini lathe, new 1221 Jet lathe, Jet dust collection system, Porter Cable belt/disc sander, drill press, and a bunch of minor stuff. My claim to fame are my wine glasses…I have sold them world-wide, and I even have a set in the White House! I also make Cremation urns for pets and people, Sea urchin Christmas ornaments, and many other items. As I am retired, I can devote more time to my hobby….and I do a bit of volunteer tutoring in the woodturning dept. of a local high school.

Well, WELCOME to Lumberjocks! I look forward to seeing pictures of your work (& the new shop). I’m not a woodturner (not that I don’t want to be… just no lathe yet) but I’m sure we can learn from each other.

Welcome, MrDon. Looking forward to seeing some of your turnings.
I do a little turning myself but nothing White House worthy, yet.

Please post some of your work. I am not very good at turning but enough it. Experienced turners like you are a great source of learning. Welcome.

I will work at posting some photos of my work this weekend…good stuff…pictures; ungood stuff (designer firewood) no pictures. As for the White House wine glasses…sold a set to a Senator, and he remarked they were to be a Christmas gift for the elder Bushes….makes for a VERY good day!!!

Have your say...
