Oversized images cut off - 3 replies

LJ seems to have some style related issues, such as when someone posts an image from a 3rd party host that is too large to fit within the fixed width column that LJ uses…  Ex:     Instead of a properly resized (no more than 640px wide) version:      It might be as simple as adding max-widt...

2016 Woodworking Calendar - Images from LumberJocks Contributors - 33 replies

For the past 3 years, a couple of us regular participants in some of the hand tool forums have put together a calendar of pictures from the Frequenters of those threads, as well as from our somewhat regular shop made tool swaps.  I collected the images and have created the calendar online so that anyone can order however many they want i...

Most Useful Shop Storage - 70 replies

What are some of the shop storage/organizing solutions you’ve found most useful in your shop? As my wife and I close on our new house this week, I’m looking forward to moving into a new shop space (an actual garage/shop space, for those who know my back story, I’m excited for that). Anyway, I like to think about a lot of ...

Brainstorming - LumberJock Shop Made Swap Winter 2015 - 163 replies

Some of the participants in the previous shop made tool swap have started to roll ideas around to come up with something for the next swap item. We’re thinking something maybe a little more “out of the normal” swap items this time around. We’ve done: Planes (twice) Mallets (twice) Saws Marking gauges Marking...

Pulse not working - 6 replies

Is anyone else having issues with the pulse page not working? If I click the pulse button in the upper right, or click on refresh once there, I get an application error (those two have the URL http://lumberjocks.com/pulse) If I use http://lumberjocks.com/pulse?items=all, then it works (but then the refresh button on the page still breaks it,...

For Sale - Lie-Nielsen Panel Saw - 6 replies

8 PPI Cross Cut Panel Saw I’ve had it for about a year, and have always stored it with the tooth guard on it. I haven’t used it anywhere near enough, and have since pretty much replaced it with my vintage Disston D-7’s instead. Vintage just suites my taste a little better. It’s perfectly straight, and still decent...

Stanley #45 - 7 forms of fun in 1! - And other combination/moulding planes - 792 replies

The Stanley #45 This thread will serve as a “companion” of sorts to the blog series that I’ll be working on with regards to the Stanley #45. In the blog I will be taking pictures in a sort of step-by-step process for setting up and performing certain tasks with the #45. I will also include a video of me making the cut as w...

Table Cell Fixes - 1 reply

I noticed in the “Pulse” someone’s unnecessarily long project title pushes the “activity since you last viewed” (or what ever it’s title is) gets pushed off the viewable area… Maybe there needs to be a character limit for the titles of things? Or if nothing else, set a “max-width” for the...

Wood Body Handplane Identification Help - 2 replies

Hi LJ’s… Hoping I might be able to get a little help on this one… Over the weekend I got a few handplanes from my grandfather, some of them handed down to him by his father. Two 110’s, a 101, an unknown, and this all wood one that I’m sharing here. I’m not sure what exactly it is, but it says “The F...

Staining Veneer before putting it on - 4 replies

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I’m curious if you can stain veneer before putting it on a work piece? It’s all flat surfaces, nothing fancy, just a box. Is it possible to apply some stain, let it dry for a while, and then put the veneer on? It’s PSA veneer, so I don’t think the glue bleeding the stain...
