This past weekend I got the veneer applied and stained, and glued in the top vent frame pieces. I also popped the grain on the curly maple front. Next stop will be the final pictures in the Project posting.
Thanks for checking it out:
First I flattened out the Veneer that came in a tube… finally got to use my college computer science books :-)![]()
I also taped off the front after applying the veneer, so I could stain it with out worrying about getting stain on the part that I needed to glue the front to.![]()
Painted the rear inside and exposed edges black before applying the veneer, so that any edges that weren’t a perfect cover by the veneer wouldn’t stick out as badly. The back will remain black as well.![]()
I applied Verathane Cabernet 257 oil stain to the Mahogany veneer![]()
Then I glued in the maple vent frame pieces![]()
After popping the grain with TransTint and Bulls Eye Seal Coat (As per a WoodWhisperer video) I leaned it on the front to get a sneak peak at it![]()
Next stop… Project posting with final pictures!
Thanks for checking it out
