indian intarsia

This is an indian I found online and wanted to try to make. I used the program Inkscape and made an intarsia pattern out of the picture. It took about 4 hrs to complete the pattern. It has alot of pieces and the feathers were a big challenge due to the face that I had 1 inch think wood but the red, it was a quarter inch think so I had to figure out a good way to make that work. Over all I am very happy with the way this piece turned out, thanks

I desided that I didnt want to make another animal, or a normal Intarsia peice. I wanted to make something that I could use my Artist side on and something “I” would really like. I found this picture online and really thought it was cool. I used inkscape to make the pattern and changed it up some. I had a really good time making this peice and used 5 different types of wood. I normally never use stain but I used a little on this peice just to darken the basswood used for the eyes and nose. I thought it didnt look very good all the same color. I hope you enjoy this peice as much as I enjoyed making it, thanks

I enjoyed makeing it very much. This is the first pattern that I made myself useing Inkscape. I desided to make something other than animals and I found a picture of this online. It took about 3 hours to make the pattern and 7-8 hours to complete the peice. I used Walnut, spanish cedar and cherry to make it. I hope you enjoy it, thanks

This is a project I desided to do while I was on leave at my father-in-laws house. I used his new saw which I love but just dont have the money for. I have done a few Intarsia projects but this was my favorite because it was the first project I have done where I didnt need to use Epoxy to fill spots or gaps. This is one of judys patterns but I changed it in some areas and I changed up the wood choices. My father-in-law showed me alot of different things I could do to improve my woodworking and different ways to improve my patterns. I used all his advice and took my time to add more detail to my work. I hope you enjoy this Intarsia peice as much as I did in makeing it. thanks

This is a little side project I had going on to pass the time. I decided to give landscape a try and do something other than an animal, just to do something different. I did this lighthouse out of scrap wood I had laying around the house. I also tryed to create a shadow around the outside of the lighthouse but I dont like the way it turned out, guess its a learning experiance. The top left isnt even because the wood I was working with broke and I didnt have another peice to replace it with. This took me about 40 hours to complete and has over 90 different peices. I do like how it turned out more like a painting. I hope you enjoy my work, thanks.

I was really rushed for time so it doesnt look as good as it could have, and I made it after I had been awake for 24 hrs straight lol. I had a peice of wood that had different colors running though it so I thought it would make an interesting rose. Hope you guys enjoy it and thanks

This is an Elephant I started about 4 months ago, It took so long to finsh because my saw broke and I had to wait on my taxes to get a new one. I changed alot on this Elephant from the trunk being 3 peices to the wood choices. I really love how it turned out. I took extra time putting detail into the face to make the eye stand out and adding the muscles into the legs. I hope you like it. Great to be back guys.

just another refinshing project. My wife got this bench as a gift from some friends. It was very bad off. The medal was rusted, it was missing bolts, and the wood was splintered so no one would sit on it in the first place. I had to spend a few hours to get it sanded down right and I replaced all the bolts in the bench, then removed the rust and stained the wood with a poly finsh. Thanks for viewing
