no previous part Part 1 of headboard series Part 2: day 2 & 3 »

here is my idea, drew this up in sketch up
makeing it out of 1 sheet of birch ply (lowes $40)
ill be adding a couple of under cabnit lights to the center of each bay (it was cheeper to buy a set of 6 with a 3 way touch dimmer then to buy the parts sepret so i have 4 extra i’ll toss in the kitchen, the set of 6 was $40 @ lowes) they are low profile about 1.5 ” think maybe 2.5 ” round we call them hocky puck lights, they will sit behind the arched valances so you wont see them.

sketch up
im going with a red Mahogany stain (sorry about the photo my camera is crap.)
ill add a few coats of wipe on poly.
stain sample
this is what i got cut so far, ill finish the cutting on day 2.
i’ll be useing my new craftsman plate joiner to put it together.
i got the plate joiner at the pawn shop for $40 it looks brand new sells for $189 at sears (its the 6.5 amp , and im pretty sure its really a dewalt)
day 1 progress
and ill be useing an iron on edge banding(birch) to hide the plys

Look good. A bed set is third on my list. Should start sometime in february but learned my lesson finishing in cold weather. Florida should be more kinder. I look forward to seeing your progress. Thanks
