« Part 3: A little delay, but two in finishing, one left to turn Part 4 of Turning project - Mother's day gifts series no next part

I finished two of the vases with a few additional coats of poly and then two coats of gloss lacquer over the top. So the dyed maple vase for my wife is done and the rosewood piece for my mother in law.

I also turned the vase for my mother and it turned out pretty well I think. I’m still learning to turn and sharpen my tools, so I had a couple of catches and a bit of tearout, but at the end I got it to a place I was happy with. I sanded it and got a couple of coats of poly on it to get started. I’ll get one more coat on tonight and then a couple of coats tomorrow and should be able to put the lacquer on by tomorrow night just in time for Mother’s day.

On a side note, I know these aren’t really “vases”, more of a decorative turning. Some of the picture look a bit rotated, but it’s just an artifact of trimming the pics out of one wider picture.

Nicely done Like them all but the last has a roman or greek feel to it to me.

Every body has to start some where and you got one great start going on.
