I just got back into woodworking after several years, and now have a fairly well stocked shop - just need a decent band saw and I should be set at least for awhile.

While we were remodeling our home, I got my wife to agree to dig more of a basement (for a shop - and other "undefined" things in the future - timeframe also undefined). She had seen the prices for custom cabinetry and the price of the basement plus a lot of equipment and wood worked out to be less than just the cabinets.

I now have about 3 years worth of woodworking projects for the house, starting with all new kitchen cabinets and island (all good).

Would be very interested in where woodworkers from SE Michigan are getting their rough lumber.

Thanks!

Hi all,

I am picking up my woodworking tools after 10 years absence and need some guidance on good quality clear finishes that can be used in the kitchen (my first project is to make all of the cabinets and an island in our kitchen…nothing like starting in up to my ears!).

Unfortunately, because I had to get some of the cabinets up so that the new countertops could be installed on time, the face frames for the bottom cabinets will haves to be finished while they are in their final position.
Help!
Thanks!

Welcome to LumberJocks. Glad to have you aboard.

I’m getting ready to do my cabinets also.

Mike I got an e-mail from fine woodworking and it had this link. I don’t know if you need the membership to view the video.
