Got this nice plane with a broken tote for $7.50 at a flea market. Nice Patina nothing else broken. Quick fixed the tote replaced with a modified old craftsman that went through a buddy’s house fire.

Am gonna find a nice piece of wood to make another sole. I AM keeping the original though as it is in great condition.

Great find, but if the sole is in great shape, why bother to make another. They’re not a rare item, so you really don’t need to put aside the sole. Just sand it flat or run it through a jointer to true it up. (it’s a good idea to remove the blade first)

The Sole is in good shape I like the color and wear on it looking for a nice piece of wood to make a new one just because.

nice plane it’s in great shape i’m rehabing one now a sargent 26 i think but it looks nice (the sargent). all you have to do is plane the sole and it sould work fine this is what i did to mine and it started to take thin shavings. Good Luck!

i purchase one just like it. Seems handles get busted when dropped. Im reduieng the sole everything be better then brand new not wanting antique look. cant wait to see yours finished. bryan
