Part 2: Slow down!!

After multiple mistakes, measure twice, cut once, swear like a sailor I have run out of walnut. Grrrr. I will have to order more and it will take a few days to get here. You would think that in CA there would be a supplier of hardwood somewhere close, NOT! Well, I will get back to it in a few days. I have learned a valuable lesson, order more material than I think I will need and maybe measure it 3 times. Thanks for the comments I have received, its nice to read the nice reponses and makes...

Part 3: Deadline quickly approaching, running outta time

Well as the time approaches for the contest end I find myself scrambling to get things completed. Due to financial constraints and the holidays I am doing my best to have it completed by the end of the month. The box is almost complete, all the moulding, bracket feet have been machined and attached and all the drawers are constructed and dry fit. All that is left are the drawer bottoms, fitting the door, final sanding, finishing and installing hardware. I am working most of the remaining days...

Part 4: Waiting for the finish to dry

I am sure that everyone here knows exactally how boring it is to watch paint dry. Well thats where I am, except its tung oil, not paint. I have the spice box completed and oiled yesterday. Hopefully I can at least one coat of wax on it today, assemble and get some pics done before I have go back to work tomorrow. I have been working on this for a little over a month, ok almost 2 months, and it seems to have consumed me. It was supposed to be a christmas gift for the LOML, but I didnt make it....
