After multiple mistakes, measure twice, cut once, swear like a sailor I have run out of walnut. Grrrr. I will have to order more and it will take a few days to get here. You would think that in CA there would be a supplier of hardwood somewhere close, NOT! Well, I will get back to it in a few days. I have learned a valuable lesson, order more material than I think I will need and maybe measure it 3 times.
Thanks for the comments I have received, its nice to read the nice reponses and makes me want to do more projects.

I too live CA and the cost and time of shipping here is horrible. Seems that most of the hardwood suppliers deal only with business’ and no one else, no license, no sale, don’t bother us… It’s hard to get good redwood and it grows here. The expense of always ordering much more wood than needed and then having all sorts of exspensive wood left over that little can be done with… I do have envy of those that live closer to the eastern wood suppliers.

remember sneak up on it. measure twice. cut one at 1/8 over your desired width. and nibble away at it until you are there. works much much better than trying to cut to final the first time.
Have your say...
