Gang rip on 3HP cabinet saw? - 6 replies

So I do a lot of ripping of 3/8 strips of ironwood. Has anyone tried setting up a cabinet saw for gang ripping? If it were poplar, I wouldn’t think twice – I’d mount up two blades and give it a shot. Because the ironwood is a bear to cut (some chatter/burning seems unavoidable), I am a little more hesitant. My thought was t...

Arbor/Assembly Router Bit Help - 7 replies

So I have a flush-cutting task that has a tendency to split when I reach the end grain (a common problem well explained here: http://lumberjocks.com/Jcw0013/blog/30963). Normally I can control this by climb-milling and other tricks, but this is an extremely hard wood that is being stubborn. Since I use a shaper which has a “reverse”...

Cyclone filters confusion - 8 replies

So I am considering replacing the stock grizzly filter with a new PSI nano filter. The grizzly filter is 15.75” by 46.75” and the PSI filter is 14” by 36”....HOWEVER, the grizzly claims 96 sq.ft. and PSI claims 350 sq.ft. ? Is there really THAT much difference in the number of pleats? Or is there another detail I am mi...

Ever been to a Grizzly tent sale? - 4 replies

So there is a tent sale coming up and we are in the market for a 2HP cyclone, so are considering making the 8hr drive. How good are the deals there? Are we talking 10% off or 70%...I have no idea what to expect (so whether or not its worth the gas)?

Jigsaw dust collection - 3 replies

So we are trying to come up with a complete dust collection plan for our shop. The only tool that I dont have a good plan for is the jigsaw. Luckily we are planning to replace our beaten B&D, so if a specific saw dust collects best that is a viable solution. My searching has come up with not many answers (nothing like chopsaws). What hav...

Workbench clamping options - 17 replies

Ok, so I have been browsing workbenches for a few months now trying to settle on a design. This will fit into the wing of my cabinet saw as that is all of the space I can afford (and still be able to get to all sides). Here is the twist: almost all of our work is in composites (building skis, longboards, and other carbon fiber creations) which...

Shop fox classic vs. original - 2 replies

Has anyone tried the shop fox original fence (aka. The Incredible Shop Fox fence)? There are plenty of positive reviews of the Classic fence, but I can get either fence with the 3hp Shop Fox I am considering buying for the same price and Grizzly markets the Original fence as higher end. Thoughts?
