Which LJ's out there are my Neighbors? - 11 replies

Just curious,Since not many LJ’S put in there location or workshop, I was wondering which LJ’s are my neighbors? I only know of a few, 2 of which are LJ buddies of mine, Bob A in NJ, and Lee a. Jessberger, who else? NJ is pretty densely populated in several areas so I assume its more than just us 3. I am also curious if anyone in NJ ...

Perennial wood, anybody use this. - 16 replies

I just saw a commercial for Perennial wood, and then visited their website. It seems this wood has had its molecular structure changed. Based on what the website says the trees go straighter & taller, the wood cut from these trees resists cupping and cracking and is garunteed for 25 years. I have provided a link so you can check it out. ...

What to do with all this wood? - 53 replies

Hello fellow LJer’s,Some of you may already know that I work for the wire and cable industry, that is where most of the pallets I use come from. Pergola Ideas & Plans - 4 replies

Hello fellow, LJ’ers,I would like to build a pergola this spring to have for the summer. In the past we have purchased the metal and canvas tents from the big box stores, but they never last and for the money I spent I could build 3 of them. I did a search for pergolas on here and came up with tons of them, but would like to ask a few thi...

Folding Bench/Picnic Table - 12 replies

Hi All, Although I have probably have a dozen or more projects at 50% done or more, after the warm weather we had today on the upper east cost, the wife said we need a picnic table. I figured that’s easy to build and, maybe I can rope her and my daughter into the project and make it a whole family build. I have found a few by other ...

Looking for a little advice here. Fellow LJ member, ( bruc101) posted a great looking countertop, since I am remodeling the kitchen, I asked him some advice on the wood countertop. Now I would like to get some opinions on what wood I should use and what would hold up the best, including any finishing tips. I have done epoxy bar tops bur for my k...

Low cost easy setup jointer - 7 replies

Hello fellow Lumberjocks,I need to replace my jointer eventually, hopefully sooner than later. I currently have a Craftsman unit about 16 years old, it works good but it’s not big enough, ( 4.5”), and it takes forever to set the blades. I was looking at the HF one and I have heard mixed reviews. I am more concerned not spending so mu...

Here is the question, since there is only one small part of the DC that is using PVC pipe inside the cyclone, do I need to run a bare ground wire through the p...

Off Topic, Whats going on here? - 41 replies

Fellow Lumberjocks, I only have one question today, What is going on here? In the last week, I have seen people complaining about this LJ member or that LJ member, then another blocking this one or that one, then “I am leaving”. “I got a problem with you or him or her”, “I don’t like this or that or something ...

Radial Arm Saws, dying breed? - 22 replies

Hi folks, I was on Craigs list last night, and there are tons of old RAS for sale, all older units. I don’t see any new ones anymore from anyone, except maybe one from Craftsman. I started woodworking using a RAS and would like to get one again,( probably more nostalgic than anything else). Did everyone abandon RAS’s for TS’s n...
