I received the final inputs a few days ago from my Son and am now rarin’ to go! The biggest challenge, however, is that I need to get the mantleplace shelf out of the way, as I’ve promised to deliver it on Friday morning and it’s still at the staining stage. The colour my client selected requires 4 coats, each requiring about 5 hours between coats. That’ll be followed by 2 or perhaps 3 coats of satin varnish.
As soon as I get the next coat of stain on, I’ll be taking out the sheet of 3/4” oak plywood I’ll be making the body of the box from. Now, if only I had more storage space in my shop so I wouldn’t have to keep moving things around our unheated garage to get at my sheet goods and lumber. I can hardly wait to move into my new 1,000 sq ft shop this coming fall!
