I am an amateur woodworking who specializes in fine jewelry boxes. Most of my projects integrate a music box with the jewelry box. I have always enjoyed the look of surprise and pleasure on a person's face when they open some part of the box and the music box begins to play.

My raw skills were learned from my father, whom I consider an accomplished craftsman, even though he doesn't always agree!

I have only recently acquired a home where I have been able to outfit half of my garage with the power tools and bench space to have a shop of my own.

Welcome to LJs. I am sure that you will find this to be an interesting element of your woodworking journey. You should fit right in here in that there are a number of accomplished box makers on board. I really never gave boxes the attention that they deserved but after participating in the activities on this site I have gained a newfound respect and admiration both for the boxes themselves and for those talented enough to create these pieces.

I look forward to seeing some of your posts.

Welcome to LJ. Just wanted let you know that several of us are planning a picnic, tentatively set for June 21st. I’ve written a blog about it:
