I cut This way, That way, Upside down and Sideways. I thought I had it all down but nothing was making sense. I truly made an impressive pile of kindling. Then, I thought I had it. I tried to assemble and discovered another error in my logic. Here is a sample: That’s not bad for practice but I soon discovered the error of my ways. Part 2: It's actually looking OK

Howdy, I have a lot more sanding to do and I’m filling the inside. The outside of the structure has been rough sanded and filled. I’m not real happy that I used filler at all but that’s how it goes when you are a rookie. What you might be able to see here is that I used poplar because it is very light weight for a lighting pendant. the outside is actually crosscut. Part 3: Sanding is looking nice

I’m actually rather surprised and and rather pleased about how the dodecahedron light fixture is coming. So much so that I want to take advantage of the grain showing through. I used poplar. Unfortunately I do have a little wood filler here and there and the inside is also filled. Any advice on what type of stain. In a ddition, can you provide some advice on sealing it. What ever I use will have to stand up to a little heat given it’s purpose as a pendant light.
