I'm just starting out in this hobby, and I'm looking to connect with other people and learn from them. My wife asked me to build a few simple projects, and along the way I discovered that working with wood - even in those simple projects - is an extremely rewarding experience for me.
I'm sure that seems like it's hardly a revelation to most of you. However, my career centers around computers. 'Working with my hands' was not something I thought of that way - especially in my younger days. I guess as I've gotten older I've just become wise enough to appreciate the value of it.
Of course, as a result, I now have a host of increasingly complex projects on my plate. My tools are still limited - but I'm enjoying the challenge of learning to do things the long way as I build it.

Thanks everyone. I participate in a lot of forums with the kind of work I do, and I’m sad to say there are so few anymore which offer such warm welcomes to new people. It’s really quite refreshing.
