I am in early 40's, and just now reached a point in life where I can begin to pursue woodworking. My initial desire is driven by wanting to build concert classical guitars in the Spanish tradition some day, as well as to design and build heirloom pieces for newlyweds and new parents.
I am a relative new comer to woodworking, and I am in the process of outfitting a small shop area in my garage. I suspect I will lean more toward hand tools and traditional methods, particularly with joinery (cuz I LIKE it) but I do have a few power tools as well.
My first project was to build a bench from "Tom's Torsion Box WorkBench" article on AmericanWoodWorker.com.

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself a little over a year ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…
Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…
Wisty
