I was hired to build a wet bar for some friends. Their house overlooks a nearby river. The whole bottom floor is a game room and three car garage.

They already have a pool table, juke box, and a dry bar, but they (she) wanted me to build a wet bar to sit behind the dry bar. This house was purchased last year and they have been doing considerable amount of remodeling and improving the existing structure.

One thing that was to be included is a couple of upper cabinets with glass panel doors and glass shelves. She has a drink glass collection and wants to display the glasses.

We met and came up with a plan.

The plan for the upper cabinets has been redesigned. Each of the two big cabinets will have two doors (with glass panels) and glass shelves.

The center cabinet will have a shelf, a rack for hanging stem glasses, and I plan to incorporate a shelf immediately above the glasses to hold about 5 wine bottles. The number is subject to change.

The base cabinets consist of two identical cabinets (one on each end) with two small drawers and doors with shelves.

A four drawer cabinet is adjacent to a cabinet designated a sink base. Their apartment style refrigerator fits into an opening to the left of the sink base. Plumbing and electrical had been roughed in 20 years ago but never used. So I designed the cabinets around the rough-ins.

The face frames, doors, drawer fronts and drawers are hard maple.
The carcases are prefinished birch plywood – 3/4 inch for the sides; 1/2 inch backs.

Drawer slides are full extension soft close.
Door hinges are Blum Blumotion soft close.

The finish is General Finishes Java with Deft Clear Wood Finish in Satin.
