Well,
I will be turning 29 on Monday, and this afternoon following lunch, the wife took me by Sears to pick up a 10” drill press and then by the Home Depot to pick up a new table saw blade. I am feeling pretty loved right now. The drill press went together in about 20 minutes, and though I am not big on electronics, the laser crosshair was dead-on right out of the box. It appears to have no slop in the spindle when extended either, should be more than good enough for me. I am going to put both items through their paces soon, as I will be starting a crib for our 2nd…..arriving in February.

All smiles here!
joe

Congratulations on the new toys and the new addition to your family, Joe. With a wife as generous as your is it is a shame that birthdays only come once a year. :)

I will be looking forward to seeing a blog on the construction of your new crib.

Ah, to be feelin’ loved…

A wonderful family, new toys, now that’s what it’s all about!

Small or large, a bench or floor drill press is one of the foundations in any shop, and one of my favorites. With all kinds of attachments available you have a superb, versitle workhorse. An early project might be an extended table—you can build a simple or complex one. There is no shortage of plans for jigs and fixtures widely available to increase the capabilities of the drill press.

Building jigs—even simple ones—and thinking and scheming about tools is one of the true pleasures.

Happy 29 on the 29th!

Peter

I need to remind my wife that tools make great birthday presents: Happy Birthday Mojoe!
