Today our family went to visit my folks for a late Christmas. My brother-in-law, who runs a mobile saw mill, brought me a couple turning blanks fresh from his farm. The smaller (about 12×12) is elm, and the larger is red oak. He knew I’ve been thinking about buying a lathe, so now I have a good reason to make the purchase…..two fresh blanks, and a nearby supply of cut-offs!

I’ve been looking at the Rikon 70-100 and the JET 12-20….....
