New Table Saw on Order
Well, I just ordered a Laguna Fusion F2 table saw. I caught it on sale at 10% off and no sales tax. Shipping was just $75 to my driveway with lift gate service.
Ended up with a cabinet style hybrid with a 36" fence and cast iron extensions. I only have 110V in my garage shop so I had to stick with 1 & 3/4 horsepower saw. I think I'll be happy with this and it will fill my hobbyist needs. It has all of the features I was looking for. The 36" fence seems like a happy medium between the common 30" fence saws and the full 52" variety. I don't have much need for cutting a full size sheet of plywood but on those rare occasions that I need to I'll use a track saw.
I plan to use my workbench as an out feed table along with some Harbor Freight roller stands. I haven't decided if I want to add an extension table or a router table to the saw. I may just leave the saw in the stock configuration. Once it arrives I'll set it up n the garage then organize things around it. The current plan is to put it about 3-4 feet inside the rollup garage door and feed wood into the garage. I'll run it that way for a while then decide if I want to reverse it and feed wood out into the driveway.
Laguna has a series of 18 videos covering unboxing, setup and tuning. They are for the previous version of the saw but should be close enough to the newer configuration that setup should be easy. I'll post lots of pictures once I take delivery on the saw. I can't wait to start making sawdust.
