Where and What is Baliegh Equipment?

I’ve been away for awhile – I had to put away the woodworking for my day job, and am re-connecting.

When I left, Baleigh was touting itself as a ‘Paid Sponsor’; holding Prize Drawing, and in-general touting its equipment – which seems to be direct knock-offs of other manufacturer’s equipment.

So, I’ll start the fire, ask others to either throw gasoline or water on it – “Is Baleigh adding value to the sport of woodworking; or are they merely a brand?

I don’t think they are going to make the playoffs!

First, my apologies for mis-spelling Baileigh – I’m usually more precise about these things…

My initial view of Baileigh, when they first started posting to Lumberjocks, was both hopeful and disconcerted. Hopeful that they would fill the void being left by Delta (which seems to have imploded, and left the scene); and disconcerted with them using the Blog and Forum sections as free advertising venues. They were long on promises, good cheer, and a contest.
The choices for heavy-use woodworkers seemed to be dwindling – Powermatic, Grizzly, and SawStop – not to offend anyone I’ve omitted; and I was hoping that Baileigh would step-up with solid construction, a few innovating wrinkles – and overall a quality product.
About a year later – I’ve been away; I was interested in their progress. I remember taking a viral beating from several LJ members for my requests for “Shane” (the Baileigh rep assigned to LJs) to provide more transparency, more pictures of equipment, more specifications; more reviews by owners – and because I personally didn’t like the advertising bent of their postings. Being a ‘numbers’ guy in my corporate life, I was looking for facts and figures, not in-house testimonials.
Anyway, I’m tying to close the loop – that’s all.
Thanks,
