Ok so I have 3 planes from Veritas (LAB, LAJ and Small Shoulder) and a Stanley No 4 from the early 1900’s and a WWII era Miller Falls No 7 as well as a POS contractor grade Stanley block plane. I am noticing that all my Veritas planes rust while none of the antiques do (the POS rusts but at a way slower rate than the Veritas). I am religio...

Anyone using Blue Tornado router bits? - 9 replies
Hi All I am wondering if anyone is using (or has used) Blue Tornado router bits from Busy Bee Tools here in Canada. I was thinking of trying some of their bits out (normally use Veritas and Freud) but thought I would ask the community what they thought. I checked the reviews section but all the threads were saw blade related. Thanks Luke

Hello woodfolks, I have 14×8/4 7 inch wide 4ft long birch boards that need to be resawn down to 4/4 for an eventual 3/4” thick 6” wide board and I am wondering if I should joint one face before I resaw or just go straight to the bandsaw and joint after? The grain on the birch is pretty all over the place and I am afraid it is...

Question about lathe motor - 12 replies
Hi All, I am planning on building my own lathe (blog to come) I have a 2Hp motor I recovered off an old air compressor (115V) and I am wondering if I can put a rheostat on it for speed control or if I need to get multi speed spindles for the belts. Basically wondering if putting a rheostat on will wreck the motor? Thanks Luke
