« Part 4: Lap Joints, Router Days and Dry Fit Part 5 of Faery Mirrors Build series no next part

Getting close now, Glued up the frames. Loving the 90 degree clamp braces (or whatever you call them), don’t remember where I saw them but thanks to that person for the idea!

Glueing the lap joints pretty basic.

Drilled out the corners and plugged with purpleheart plugs, turned the dowels using the bandsaw method… pretty hard on your blade.

Everything sanded to 320grit and then start applying the finish. Using 1/3 poly 1/3 mineral oil 1/3 boiled linseed oil (three cups total) with about two tablespoons of roofing tar mix added to darken it up a little. (1 tbs roofing tar 1 cup mineral oil)

I am at three coats in these pics, sanded with 400 between coats and tacked with mineral oil, really liking this finish, goes on easy and makes the wood look great!
