Boys and girls, Don’t know what possessed me, but I had a re-look at one of my old blog’s and somehow hit the [Alice's restaurant] button. Nothing to do with woodworking but you may do a bit of sawdust toe tapping to the dulcet background rhythm. For all you milleniums who haven’t experienced it, and all you ”Y”ies that have forgotten, if you want a chuckle, persevere with the intro and listen to the tale, hell, yeah 18 minutes of pure comical entertainment… and incredible how true the subtle hidden messages are now days.

Do yourself a favour and hit that blue button above…

Well I am up to getting handcuffed and into the patrol car more later what a hoot!

I must have been preoccuppied at the time as I dont remember ever hearing it all I certainly remember Arlo
Matbe I am getting old and altzimers (Ithink that is what its called) is kicking in.

Currently my life hinges around my dumb decision to make a cupboard with a Face frame and then add the stupidity of having inset doors. Even after a case of beer and a cask of Port yesterday I still cannot figure out a solution.

Thanks for the plesant distraction, I even played Freddy Mercurys I want to Break free later!

Now that video would make any true blooded Aussie male vote ”YES” (circa Sep/Oct 2017 for those Aussies reading this in 30 years time…).

Line up the geriatric nurses, a bottle or two of oxygen, a couple of souped up wheel chairs…. and I’ll be there… desperately trying to trade in all my past brownies points for the ”hall pass”.

Don’t know about you Pj, but to me is was just like yesterday… I must have listened (not read… lucky they didn’t have .TXT files back then) 100 times and still manage to raise many a chuckle.

You’ve got a date there potzzy…. howeva, it’s gotta be my place though… this duck has lost the gift of flight since the missus got jealous and made me shave the armpits…. though I’m sure rob may still display a proud un-hen-pecked undergrowth.

Go Tigers.

Morning LBD,

I just saw the NEWS here, now I understand the Tigers comment, well done.

I also checked out Aldo at a live aid concert 2005 he seems to be able to remember all the words amazing!

Just in case others want to know about Alices restaurant

“Alice’s Restaurant”

On Thanksgiving Day 1965, while in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, on vacation from his brief stint in college, Guthrie, then 18 years old, was arrested for illegally dumping on private property what he described as “a half-ton of garbage” from the home of his friends Ray and Alice Brock after he discovered the local landfill was closed for the holiday. Guthrie and his collaborator appeared in court, pled guilty to the charges, were levied a nominal fine and picked up the garbage that weekend.

This littering charge would soon serve as the basis for Guthrie’s most famous work, “Alice’s Restaurant Massacree”, a talking blues song that lasts 18 minutes and 34 seconds in its original recorded version. Guthrie has pointed out that this was also the exact length of one of the famous gaps in Richard Nixon’s Watergate tapes, and that Nixon owned a copy of the record. The Alice in the song is Alice Brock, who had been a librarian at Arlo’s boarding school in the town before opening her restaurant. She now owns an art studio in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

The song lampoons the Vietnam War draft. However, Guthrie has stated in multiple interviews that the song is more an “anti-stupidity” song than an anti-war song, adding that it is based on a true incident. In the song, Guthrie is called up for a draft examination and rejected as unfit for military service as a result of a criminal record consisting in its entirety of one crime, littering. Alice’s restaurant is the subject of the recurrent refrain, but is not mentioned in the story (early drafts of the song explained that the restaurant was a place to hide from the police). On the DVD commentary for the 1969 movie, Guthrie stated that the events presented in the song all actually happened (others, such as the arresting officer, William Obanhein, disputed this, and Guthrie now notes that he embellished some minor details).

.... Thanksgiving Day 1965, while in Stockbridge, ...
- robscastle

You owe me r’c’... I actually read all that… more than I have done for a long time. Interesting to know it was based on fact (be it slightly/overly manipulated). I just found it entertaining and I referred to it in one of my blogs, which I was researching to ensure I keep all my ducks line up (same repeated lies) in subsequent comments.
Thought it was too good not to re-iterate.

Go Storm....
and I’m not referring to Maria plundering the east of North Carolina.

PS.

....he seems to be able to remember all the words amazing!....

I have memorised just 2 words that have never failed me….
