Lisa Chan's Workshop

Seattle, WA 98103
United States

Workshop? What workshop! It’s in my garage. The garage is a glorified spider farm.

We rent. And we share the garage with my landlord. It’s used for dumping for the most part and it’s a shameful mess. We have a trash run planned for December… phew. My things inhabit the last 4 ft of the garage in front of the electric door and a bench to the left.

I’m having too much fun turning and making sawdust to worry about what’s going on behind me. There’s a broken Delta lathe in the background (my starter machine) and I’ll be fixing it for about $100.

Beautiful things can come from ugly beginnings.

Doesn’t count, unless you have pictures. ;-)

OMG… I’m too embarrassed to take a picture of the garage right now. Can I clean it up first?! HAH!

Lisa!!!

Didn’t you read the fine print about the link to the page that emails you the unpublished, unwritten rule of Lumberjocks? It clearly states that workshop pictures must be posted showing a shop before it is cleaned ;^)

Lisa, I wouldn’t worry too much about posting pictures of a shop that is neat and tidy. This, to me at least, looks like a shop that is not being used. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your shop when you get the opportunity to post them. As you can probably guess from the responses already, visual tours of other shops are always well received.

Lisa, it looks like you have everything you need to “turn” out some nice projects. Good idea to put your lathe at the front of the garage where you can take advantage of the light. That looks like a nice lathe and stand that you have. That is one tool that I have not added to my shop- yet! Whenever I see a turning posted it makes me regret missing out on the fun.

Thanks for the picture. Now if you can get your landlord to get rid of some stuff in there you will have room for more tools or a bigger lathe. :)

Hey Lisa,
If you think yours is bad you should have seen my first so-called shop….it was my mum’s pantry.
