I have two shops. At home in Canada I have a large shop with lots of stand alone tools. In my winter place in Az. I have a ShopSmith 510 with lots of extras. I can do almost anything there that I can at home.

ShopSmith is what it is. As a high quality woodworking center in a small space it’s very hard to beat (IMHO). Is it as convenient and easy as stand alones? ... no, but the quality of the machines is much higher than the budget box store brands and the space saving is very impressive.

A good woodworker can produce fine work with a ShopSmith, a poor one can’t with the best tools.

Check out this blog about my SS powered shop.

You can not go wrong with a ShopSmith. I had one years ago (back in the 1970’)s when I did not have the space for a big shop and I accomplished much with it. I now have a big shop with all the stand alone tools I need…but I also have another Shop Smith I bought a few years ago.

I bought my Shop Smith in 07 and it has been great.
The few problems I have had with it, was my own doing. And every time I have called customer services they have been great about taking the time to walk me through the problem and about the longest I was ever on hold was about 3 or 4 minutes.
I have worked this machine pretty hard and it just keeps on going.

If you can afford one of the new ones you will love it. I seen a demo of one of the new ones and it had a lot of new features.

Just had the opportunity to see 2 machines
The first one had many add ones including the Band Saw, jointer 2 new saw blades an a lot of non
open items but missing the extended Table

The second included the Band saw, jointer and extended table and made in 12-09-99
and one owner

it was love at first sight dirty but the belts were in great working condition
might make an offer and make Canada a new location for this equipment

Have your say...
