New Mallet Project
Okay, so…I’ve bought a gouge on eBay, and I’m making some others, and it occurred to me: I don’t have a decent mallet. In fact, I’ve NEVER had one, and making one has been on my “tuit” list for far too long. Soooo…downstairs in the shop today I made some headway. The blank I’d glued up from 6/4 hard maple stock, then cut and mounted in my lathe (second favourite tool in my shop, thank you): That done, I then bored the mallet head for a handle: And then turned a handle: The glue-ups were all done using “Gorilla Glue,” which I figure is about as good as having solid wood.
