I got interested in woodworking at a very early age. My father taught building trades at a local community college and my grandfather restored antique furniture. I spent a lot of time in their shops and was always building something from the scraps. I got away woodworking and shops during high school, and never really got the interest rekindled until I was in my mid 30's. I started looking at woodworking magazines, and started a modest tool collection with the anticipation of soon having a place where I could have a proper shop. That didn't happen quite as soon as I had planned, but by the time I was in my mid 40's, I finally had a house with a garage and started turning my book learning into real experience. The past 18 months or so I have been building my skills by outfitting my shop with cabinets, jigs, and accessories. I've built a few small projects for family and friends and now feel like I am at least ready to start fulfilling the dream that got me back into woodworking: to build all the furniture in my house.
