Here’s the much awaited finished shop, up and running! Its not a big shop by any means. So if you look closely, you should see a few cool ideas for getting the most from the space. The shop is in the basement of our raised ranch home. The door in the wall in the fifth picture allows for board stock to be passed in from the garage, rather than being carried though the house, keeping me out of the dog house. My 2hp dust collector is in the garage, wired to a current sensor, so that it comes on automatically when I turn on any machine connected to the system. The 1 hp collector behind the drill press is for sale if anyone is interested. The next changes will be a jointer upgrade and a drum sander if I can find somewhere to put it. Please let me know what you think.

Looks like it is coming along great. Will be nice when it is done.

Great start on the shop. Down in the basement but with natural light.

I am glad that this post came up on my review list. You have a nice shop space and some really nice tools. The work light looks familiar. I have one just like it that I got at Wal-Mart (beacuse it was cheaper than the one at Lowe’s) . One lamp shorted through its wiring within a couple months after I bought it and my attempts at repairing it were less than successful. When it shorted again I went out and bought a heavier one at Lowe’s. Even though it only has 1 lamp I still put it to use.

Thanks for the post.

Nice shop, I like the door between the shop and the garage, I am lucky to have a door to outside right in the shop, wouldent want to be treking through the house all the time either. I also like how the dust collector comes on when you fire up a tool, nice touch. Thanks for the post.
