Trouble using ceramic water stones - 3 replies

I’m having a lot of trouble using my 13000x ceramic water stone to polish the back side of my plane iron. I use japanese waterstones to sharpen my tools. I start with my 1000x stone which works fine however when I switch to my 4000x stone that’s when I have a lot of trouble. Cabriole leg with a quarter column - 3 replies

I want to make a cabriole leg with a quarter column in it. I’m puzzled as to how to make the pocket the quarter column sits in. Do I plan for the pocket during the glueup of my leg blank or do I make the pocket during the shaping of the leg. If it’s the latter, what is the best way to go about making the pocket?
