What do you see when you look at this picture of The Slab???

Please, join the conversation and Like the EZInlays facebook page. I upload higher resolution pictures there.

I see a Phoenix rising from the flames. This is where I got the name “The Phoenix Project” for my Kickstarter campaign. Kicks off next week!!!

The Phoenix Project goal: “To create heirloom projects and objects from The Slab while preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of this gift from Nature.”

I dont see the bird…

Looks like the slab is under water and you’re looking thru the ripples on the surface of the pond

A cat along the bottom with its head on the right side.
Head turned towards the back with mouth open.
Ears, whiskers, all there.

Beautiful piece of wood. I’ll take it as is :)

I had the advantage of walking around the slab in direct sunlight. The quilting patterns have a holographic effect making a pattern of flames or feathers depending on the light. Only one bird can tolerate flames and that is the Phoenix. Once I made that connection I saw the bird and now can’t unsee it… :/

If its just left of the center, with a darker beak, then I see it. If not then I’m seeing things. Beautiful piece by the way.
