In early December the Mid-Michigan Woodworkers Guild held their Christmas dinner/fund raiser. This year our members elected to raise money for Ele’s place. http://www.elesplace.org/

ELE’S PLACE IS a healing center for grieving children throughout the Lansing and Ann Arbor regions. Ongoing peer support group programs help hundreds of children and teens to cope with the death or life-threatening illness of a parent, sibling or other close family member or friend.

The evening started with over fifty members and their spouses mingling and inspecting the display table filled with donated woodworking items. The raffle table had seemly something for every woodworker. On the table were items for the beginner to the seasoned craftsman, but make no mistake, the grand prize had everyone’s attention…. A brand new Freud Router Table and 3 1/4 hp router.
After purchasing raffle tickets, we turned our attention to ” show a tell”. Many members brought in their latest project or a special jig and gave a short summary on how it was constructed, including the materials used, the type of finish and how it was applied.

Like clock work, the pizza and salad arrived just as “show and tell” was wrapping up. Of course no holiday celebration would be complete without a trip to the dessert table. Sweets of all kinds were brought in by members and their spouses to complete the meal.

This dinner/fund raiser would not have happened if it weren’t for the support of our members and the the many businesses that donated raffle items.

Thank you, to everyone that helped with planning, set up, clean up and all the little things that were needed to make this a memorable evening. And a Big Thank You to the companies that donated items for the raffle.

The following is a list of the companies that donated woodworking items, in no particular order:

Great Place to raise money for Keith! Great bunch of guys to back it. I will probably start attending your meetings shortly. Hope I can find it. I know Dewitt pretty well. Shouldn’t be a problem.
