Butternut Open Tool Cabinet

This is a tool cabinet I made to sit across from my Sliding Table Saw/Shaper. I used local milled butternut for the cabinet and resawed the butternut in 9” wide pieces at full length and veneered to a 1/4” plywood back board. I had to glue one veneer strip at a time to insure the glue adhered through out the entire strip. It has 9 drawers. I veneered the faces of the drawers with some especialy figured cherry veneer I cut for this project. I am planing to turn some knobs using cherry with ebony laminated in the center. I don’t know how well that will turn out. Comments on this subject would be appriciated.

I threw in a picture of the machine room of my basement shop just for fun.

I hope you enjoy looking as I do making.

Tiger Maple Childs Dresser

I made this when my daughter was born 24 yrs. ago. It is still in good shape. I was pretty new to furniture making at the time and some of the joinery is a bit crude but still serving well. I finished with polyurethane. Wouldn’t do that today.

Red Oak Quilt/plate Rack

My wife started collecting quilts and wanted to display them. We put are heads together and came up with this design.

I cut the large cove molding using a shop made angled parallell jig on the table saw. There is a groove for the plate rail on top. I made this about 20 yrs. ago. so it’s a little worse for wear. My wife changes the quilt out 2 or 3 times year. She displays a chritsmas quilt and other seasonal quilts during the year.

Cherry End Table

This table was built to pay nterest on a loan from my sister for new shop tools. I’ll post those later.

The cherry was from a local mill. It had a spalted look to it that intriuged me so I used it for the table top and drawer fronts. I hope the pctures reveal the look. The next 3 tables to match are 2/3rd’s completed. I have learned a lot about processing multiple projects or batch process during the project and I have a lot more to learn. Its finished with 3 coats of Sam Maloof’s finish smoothing with 000 steel wool between coats. The legs repesents the most time spent on the project and turned on one of the new tools. My sister LOVES it.
Enjoy
