Part 1: Starting Point

04-30-2010 04:52 AM by Kerux | 3 comments »

I thought it would be fun to do a little blog on the progression of putting my new shop together. Having moved from Ohio with plenty of space to a much smaller area in the Garage in Delaware. I first thought, about 4-5 months ago that it would be no problem putting my shop together. Well, here I am still at work. I’d like to just walk into the shop and build something fun. But I really can’t do that till every thing has a place… So the journey has begun. When we...

Part 2: 1st things 1st - Need to a working Vac of sorts

One of the first things I really felt I needed up and running is my Dust Collector. This will need to be mobile so those little tiny wheels are not going to cut it when rolling over small debris. A top heavy out of balance machine needs fixing! (Why do they make them like they do…. I’ll never understand.) A good and simple fix: / Using the same ‘wheel’ brackets to keep it sturdy. If I ever wish to revert back to the old rollers… I can. / / N...

Part 3: Peg Board and Trays

04-30-2010 07:51 PM by Kerux | 11 comments »

Time to get some peg board up and small shelving trays. Every time I go into the shop now, I find myself planning out where things ought to go and some accessory builds that is going to be needed. Continuing on this journey that I am becoming more determined to see finished. We now have a lighted shop with Air compressor hose up out of the way and up on the ceiling rafter in a hose reel. Now that is a first for me, in the old shop I had it just lying on the floor. No more tripping over and untangling! Woo hoo! / / / /

Part 5: Shelving Matters

05-04-2010 03:10 AM by Kerux | 0 comments »

Before I share my work for today. I want to thank you all for your comments. Doing a blog has in a sense, it has given me some motivation to do something everyday or at least try too. Tonight’s offering is simple. With time constraints I really didn’t have time to do everything I wanted to get done… but hey, I am getting things done. The first picture is something I never ever really thought I’d need in the workshop. I’ve always had a shop in the baseme...

Part 6: Outfeed and Work Table

05-27-2010 04:38 AM by Kerux | 5 comments »

Little bit at a time. At least that is what I keep telling myself. Slowly but surely I’ll get this shop into a place where I can, “Just go out and make something.” I few pics I forgot to take would be my little dust collector areas I put in for my Lathe and Table saw. Just something to make hooking up my mobile unit a little quicker. I’ll get some pics for next time. Here is a quick simple corner tray so I had some place to throw my bits. (better organization...
