Mortise and Tenon Joinery

Mortise and Tenon Joinery

4 hours ago by Roger | 4 comments »

First I want to say thank you to Hendrik Varju for giving this very fine, 5, yes, I said 5, DVD’s as a gift to the fine pages of Lumberjocks. Also, thank you Cricket for setting up things for all and any of us to be the proud owner of this type of prize. I want to say, almost 11 hours, yes, 11 hours of the many different, and intricately detailed how-to’s, and explanations of how and why’s of the fine art of Mortise and Tenon Joinery. WHEW, that was a mouthful. I hope I sa...

This is my 2-cents on this mighty fine finish from Generals. It’s grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr8!, As Tony the Tiger would have said. I used this for the 1st time on the 3 in 1 crib that I just built for my youngest Grndson. I used a sort of “French-Ball” to apply the recommended 3 coats. Small make-up pads (believe me, I don’t use make-up)lol, inside of a pair of panty-hose….......OK, stop laughin, I don’t wear those either…....I do have a hard time goin ...

This is a really nice fixed and plunge base compact router. I know I will use this much in the future for smaller routing jobs. Lotsa power, ez to use, gr8 quality. I got it at a really super price a while back, and I finally got round to using it. I cut the slots in my “football helmet” steadyrest jig that I made for turning long stock, like cane/s, spindles, etc. This worked very nicely. I look forward to using it more for many things. Not much of a review, but, I would say if ...

Gimlets

Gimlets

This is the 1st time, and NOT the last that I will use these handy-dandy “Gimlets”. The 7 different sizes are a gr8, and quick way to make a threaded starter hole for the 7 different sized screws. I just used the smallest of the set to attach the buttons for the backs of a few picture frames. Very simple, and ez/breeeezee. These are made in France, and very affordable. You can see em at this link: http://www.garrettwade.com/set-of-gimlets-7/p/37J03.04/

The Chisel Doctor (Honing Guide)

The Chisel Doctor (Honing Guide)

While going nuts for a long long time over sharpening chisels, & plane irons, I came across this USA made honing guide from Garrett Wade http://www.garrettwade.com/the-chisel-doctor/p/58A01.01/ It’s a little expensive, but, I don’t think too badly at 45 bux. It is very well made with dual wheels instead of the type that has a single wheel in the middle, 2 brass knurled knobs very nicely counter sunk, and a very nice coating of wrinkle paint. The Chisel Doctor is well worth ...
